The Recovery Process
Working in the fast-paced and complex environment of international trade, it is inevitable that oversights will occur. But under the Customs Act, you have the right to address them. You can retain MSR as an authorized professional agent to review past entries and accounts on a confidential and contingency basis to determine if there is an opportunity for Duty Recovery.
Finding the Oversights
There are different types of oversights that can occur, not just clerical errors. MSR has the expertise to identify and resolve all oversights that have been missed by others, including inaccurate end-use determination, misclassification and non-application of preferential duties.
The window of opportunity, however, is limited. Under the law, the limit for voluntary adjustments is four years from the date of a shipment release by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), so time is of the essence.
