NEXUS — Fast-Lane Border Crossing The NEXUS Program is designed to make life easier for pre-approved, low-risk travellers who frequently cross the border with the U.S. It is a joint program implemented by the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA), Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), and the United States Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP). NEXUS allows Canadian and American customs and immigration authorities to concentrate their efforts on potentially higher-risk travellers and goods, upholding security and protection standards at the border. NEXUS participants will be able to use dedicated lanes at the border and may not be subject to the usual customs and immigration questioning — this will help relieve traffic congestion and delays. Citizens and permanent residents of Canada or the United States can apply, as can business or government officials who demonstrate a need to use the NEXUS lanes and have proper documentation.
