PIP — Partners In Protection

PIP is one of many Customs efforts to direct its energies towards higher risk trade by identifying low-risk companies and decreasing the amount of time they spend at the border. But the PIP program is more than that — it is a means for your company to work with the CCRA focusing on security, the exchange of information, and awareness. After conducting a self-assessment of your security systems, Customs will advise you of any security gaps, with the intent of minimizing the threat of illegal activity. Although a partnership with Customs is signed, it is a goodwill agreement — in no way will your company be asked to act as a law enforcement body, and all information remains confidential.

Members of PIP benefit from improved security levels, an enhanced reputation for their organizations, and quicker movement of low-risk travellers and goods through customs. It also shows that your company is willing to co-operate with the CCRA in the fight against drugs and other contraband in Canada.

In order to apply, there is an involved process that you will want to get right the first time. With 20+ years in customs experience, MSR can help — whether your company only wants to join PIP, or is looking to do so as the next step in a FAST application; we've seen it done so many times it's like clockwork to us. And we'll gladly help your company feel the same way.
