BUREAU OF THE CENSUS:
Mandatory Automated Export System (AES)
Filing for all Shipments Requiring Shipper's Export Declaration (15 CFR Part 30)

The Automated Export System (AES) is an innovation of the Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce, and the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, for the fully-electronic transmission of Shipper's Export Declaration (SED) data to Census.

Already fully functional and available to U.S. exporters on an optional basis, the use of AES is being made mandatory for United States Munitions List (USML) items requiring an export license in early in its implementation.

Being an issue of immediate moment to many Visual Compliance subscribers, mandatory AES notices and orders published in the U.S. Federal Register, together with the Statutory Authorities, are published at Visual Compliance.
