Purchasing need processes and technologies that ensure buyers best serve corporate needs while staying on the right side of the laws and regulations designed to protect the interests of the United States and its allies.

In addition to standard procurement requirements:

  • Deep understanding of procurement practices within the industry or sector
  • Deep understanding of supply chain and vendor interactions
  • Deep understanding of quoting, bidding, and negotiation tactics
  • Solid understanding of spend management and finance
  • Experience with Supply Chain Management
  • For government contractors, Apply government contract requirements, such as FAR, DFAR, ISO, NASA, CPSR,MMAS, DCAA, SOX—to appropriate agreements

Many positions now require at least:

  • Good knowledge of U.S. Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations, sanctions, embargos, and screening requirements
  • Good knowledge of Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) EAR regulations, screening, and licensing requirements
  • Good knowledge of Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) ITAR regulations, screening, and licensing requirements
